ALILI MEETS THE FOOD NETWORKOn August 17th, 2008 ALILI gave a special culinary presentation at the Food Network headquarters in Manhattan. The event included an introduction of the full ALILI specialty food line, a multimedia presentation, and a 6 course tasting menu, complete with wines from Morocco's most acclaimed winery for 25 members of the Food Network creative and production teams. PR guru Jane Walsh (of JCW PR) initiated the event which not only served as an introduction of ALILI to the Food Network Team, but also as a creative driving force for ideas and themes for the upcoming season of shows.The innovative six course menu, which received high marks from the Food Network team, was prepared by David Bouley protege Andy Hyunwoo Choi, and his Sous Chef (also a Bouley alum) Jimmy Pechous. This meal successfully incorporated ALILI's specialty Moroccan ingredients into a wide range of American comfort foods, including salads, soups, pizza and dessert. The menus was as follows: FIRST COURSE Macaroni and Gourmet Cheese with ALILI Carob Honey Glaze SECOND COURSE German Potato Salad with ALILI Caperberries, Green Olive Tapenade & EVOO THIRD COURSE Spicy Tuna & Pickled Lemon Salad with ALILI Pickled Lemon and Caper Dressing FOURTH COURSE Cream of Tomato Bisque Soup with ALILI Green Olive Tapenade & EVOO FIFTH COURSE Moroccan Pizza d’ALILI with with Merguez, ALILI Capers, Black Olive Tapenade & Authentic Harissa DESSERT COURSE ALILI Ice Cream Sundae with ALILI Jujube Honey Roasted Peanuts & ALILI Jujube Honey The multimedia presentation was manned by ALILI partner Driss Chaouni, and covered such diverse topics as Moroccan's colorful culinary history and culture, The Americas Culinary Influence on Morocco and the Health Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet. |
